The Blue Book: Metyma
The Song of Transformation...
01
Somewhere it is written:
Let it be transformation.
Let it ring true!
As the Pond had stated, the Knowledge was reflected through Void and when it reached the Grid, She shifted the Light and gave it a place called Vardiza.
Below the Grid, where it is no longer dark, there shines another Light in Meter’s secret chamber:
VARIANCE
03
With a whirling Voice, Variance spoke on this:
What thing lurks beneath
the Pond’s bed, the Grid
all encompassed in Empty Nothing?
The Mass hissed from Its body:
From the Water I have sprung, and your Light has Blessed me, and I am Nurtured and Satisfied with Pond-Water. Yet I do not Know myself, I have No Name.
Nameless Thing,
It is Law in this Place,
Know thyself!
The Mound hissed in reply: Those who know the Law will reject me, for I am Forgotten, I will know Myself. I am Alymzova the Pale Shape of Beyond, Flesh in Nothing. I am Change, Transformation, my shifting is ceaseless and unending I am Life and Death and Life-Again. Let it be Known, let it Ring True.
It was known now, that Alymzova was of this Place, the Misty Deep of Vardiza, the Other Land. Alymzova continued to make Itself, growing and shifting as Variance shined on it and knew everything on the Grid and Beyond. It knew there was Light above everything, Radiance. It knew of Kunna and Vyaaz and knew Pater and the Greater Voices, Not and Som, and of the Greater Scribe.
05
From the shores of Vardyz, a River shaped by the meandering and mixing of Meter, snaked about the Other Land. The Mouth of River kissed the Mouth of The Cave deep within the Heart of the Mount. It was dark here, no room for light, the way it once was in the Beginning.
This Place was a dwelling of Four Shapes born to the Flesh of Alymzova. The River brought them nourishment and good fortune so that they were sturdy and that when the Other Land was made for Them, they could go and witness Everything.
The Four were pale and dark in pairs, each unique in shape, crowned with horns, and an eye in Thyzal and the Beyond. Thus, they new things of many, like craft, naming, how to establish, and things of the mind. There was Pale Innocence and Passion and Dark Wisdom and Diligence.
07
The Cave split both ways, unusual to the Four, who only spent their unmeasured time together. It was decided that they would divide themselves in pairs to explore both ends of the Cave. Pale Innocence collected a series of four sticks each, burning the ends of two, Innocence passed them all to Wisdom and said:
Let us draw lots to see which pair of us goes either of the Ways…
For traversing an unknown path, without caution or alone is unwise, Dark Wisdom held the remaining lots out to Passion.
How comforting is it to have a companion, how fearful to travel a dark unknown path, said Pale Passion who handed the lots to Diligence
Shall the burnt ends lead us deeper and the unburnt lead us out? questioned Dark Diligence.
Indeed, said Wisdom and Innocence.
So, it is decided.
As the Beyond wills it so, said Passion and Diligence.
In passing the lots between themselves, they each drew one. It was Pale Innocence and Dark Diligence who drew the burnt ends and Dark Wisdom and Pale Passion who pulled the unburnt lots. Wisdom took another branch and met the Flame of Diligence so that she and Passion could make their way out of the Cave. Diligence, holding his torch, leading Pale Innocence as they made way deeper into the Cave.
The Torch of Wisdom Burned Brightly.
09
Diligence and Innocence continued deeper, the Air was thick, and that Rhythm was growing as they furthered their travel. The Cave floor went down, the walls and pillars grew in numbers to uphold the weight of the Mountain. The Two were guided by the First Flame, held firmly in Diligence’s hand, arm extended forward. The tunneling opened to a large chamber, full of Pond-Water, this was Meter’s Secret Chamber, the place where Things Change.
At the edge of the Cave-Pond there was a stone boat, floating steady on the water. The Water led deeper down a tunnel, where a light shined through, inviting them with a drumming sound. Pale Innocence made way to the boat and boarded it, there was a place for Diligence’s Torch and the Guiding Light was fastened to it so that it may guide the boat through this water-passage. The boat churned slowly, earth on the water, shears cutting waves and folds through the water to where the Rhythm drums. They were soon welcomed by the Light of Variance. It shined on them, and the two Knew the Rhythm and the Hiss of the Mound that presented Itself to them. And it was saying this:
You have made it to the Deep-Dwelling, my Flesh,
And you bring another Light with you
on a vessel which was placed by Me.
Know yourself, make and keep the hearth,
Be my Judge. And you, Diligent Guide,
Know yourself now and share what is to be said.
Pale Innocence was now Etua the Judge and resided over this place. Dark Diligence was now Ymra the Herald, proclaimer of the Law. And here was the First Decree from Alymzova:
02
This Light was like Radiance but no…
It was entirely Other, It glowed in this Place and sparkled upon Nothing and the vast emptiness.
Meter, boundless as She is, began to fill the space. Each drop carried the Void with it, blessed by the Varied Light, and began to take shape. This was everything that had not settled or risen when Radiance shined.
So, each drop met the other and in knowing one another, they joined and took one Shape which continued to grow. Each drop made a sound, a Rhythm like the one Meter had disclosed before, like a drum beating deep in the Heart-of-the-Grid. The Shape thus continued to grow, pulsing and beating with Rhythm, every drop nurturing its form, that was full of Life.
04
So, the Beyond wills it so
Know thyself,
And Make Thyself Known
With those words, like a blade drawn from the sheathe, Alymzova erected a Spire, which was called Knollsabr. The Spire was a testament to Alymzova’s being, a temple, a vessel, a needle, a blade piercing through the Grid. It made way through Void and breaching the waters of Metdizal, its peak streaking Wydiza. The Spire pulsed with the same Rhythm from below. The Knoll, The-Thing-Who-Made-Itself-Known, now had a Mark made in Thyzal.
Having entered through the Belly-of-Met, it was She who welcomed the Spire. She took soot from the bottom of Her Belly, dust from where the Earthly-Maker carved away the Land and shaped an island of clay for the Spire to meet. Her churning Waters brought the two together. The Dark Spire, a mountain on this new land, made its place and the Rhythm and Her Water nourished the earth and there it was fruitful. The land was sturdy, forests and glades and streams and springs blossoming, teeming with life.
This was before Time was measured it is unknown how long the growth of the Spire to the Mount and the Forest endured. Nonetheless, it had all come to pass.
06
It was Wisdom who spoke first:
It is dark here. Where is the light?
And then Diligence:
I shall make one.
The River had brought them bush and branches that were wet and full of water, so Diligence set them aside to dry. When all the bush and branches were dry, Diligence bundled them together, working them like a Spiral, giving it some breath and there was Light.
Diligence crafted the First Flame and held it high above the head, light filled the Cave, and they could all see this Space. They could see The River went deeper and so did the Cave with it.
Passion said: What a Flame that dances and is beautiful, one can hope it does not go out.
This is good, said Innocence.
Then Wisdom spoke again:
How strange is a way that is divided. This dwelling leads both ways, and we reside in Between.
Indeed.
The First Flame Burned Brightly.
08
Wisdom and Passion followed the stream closely, its trickling waters soon widened and were rushing with vigor. The Cave walls were dancing and glittering with the reflection of the Second Flame in the Water, who left Her impressions as She cut through the Cave. Passion found this lovely, and Wisdom was intrigued so further ahead they went. They climbed over rocks and stones which then became dirt and dust and its cascading walls and pillars soon opened to the Light and Land.
Of course, Passion spoke on this:
There is Light, shall we extinguish this Flame?
While there is Light in this Place, it is Unknown to Us. We shall keep our Flame lit. Remember how the First Flame is Light, let our Second Flame reveal the land to us.
And so, they kept the Second Flame lit to reveal the Land while emerging from the Cave. Now they stood at the Mouth of the Cave and could see All, how the Land unfolded into valleys and forests and how the River broke off into many that led to the boundless Belly-of-Met. Above them stretched the rest of the Spire and way in the distance they could see there was Another Land.
Above them, that Light shined brightly high in the sky. This was Radiance carried by the Radiant Beast, which danced miraculously like the Spiral.
We are Here, what is Over There? What is that Thing up above There?
It is unknown to us, for now we should learn the Land and cultivate a Place for our Kind. Then we will see what lies across the Water…
10
There is a Place like this one Out in the Belly-of-Met,
the Land called Thyzal, ruled by Beasts who profess craft,
and make unholy divisions and call them Unions.
If it is Union they desire, let them have our Gift.
Let it be a needle stitching our Lands together.
Band your kin and sail the Belly-of-Met
as you did the Cave-Pond and as you made your way,
Dark Wisdom and Pale Passion cultivated the land and raised animals.
Herald, bring your kin their names, Sova and Lyka
and they will have table with food
from the hunt and harvest for you.
And on the Matter of That Place, Thyzal,
How cruel is it to continue to nurture a beastly thing,
One that is Born from the Nature of Division.
Division is a necessary Sin against the Holy Union of Nature
Therefore, we must remove It.
I am sending a procession of you four,
each of my Flesh will emerge into That Place
And will Make themselves Known.
